Flower Shop is a branding, marketing and PR agency that specifically focuses on clients in the cannabis industry. Our team is comprised of entertainment, advertising, social media and cannabis experts because diversity, relevancy, and authenticity are at the core of who we are.Flower Shop is seeking a results-driven and self-motivated Publicist to work daily with clients and media outlets in conjunction with specialized internal teams.  As a member of the Public Relations team, the successful candidate will be instrumental in executing the agency’s media relations strategy, new business outreach and corporate communication. In addition, Flower Shop is looking for a candidate who is passionate and knowledgeable about trends in the lifestyle, social publicity, multicultural marketing and digital space as it pertains to the cannabis industry. An ideal candidate has a proven track record and is eager to share their experience – including how to execute an informed strategy, and can use their knowledge to be a leader, mentor, creative, and immeasurably valuable member of the Flower Shop team.

Key Responsibilities / Accountabilities:

  • Build and maintain positive and engaging relationships with media (print, broadcast, online, blogs, consumer, mainstream, urban, tech and trade press)   
  • Work directly with clients and executive staff, as well as lead weekly client conference calls      
  • Work closely with the social media and marketing teams to develop and execute campaign strategy
  • Excellent writer. Responsible for writing press releases and pitches
  • Manage press strategy for new and well established brands
  • Grow brand reputation in local and national press 
  • Secure media results for clients on a daily basis
  • Understand and execute social publicity tactics on behalf of clients
  • Can identify social and media influencers to use on behalf of clients
  • Ability to lead client initiatives and identify potential issues and troubleshoot
  • Work with VP and executive staff on identifying new business opportunities for the agency
  • Secure media and conference/speaking opportunities for the agency as part of Corporate Communications initiative
  • Management of PR Coordinators and Interns


  • Detail-oriented, highly organized and the ability to easily multi-task in a fast paced environment
  • Extensive knowledge of current trends, lifestyle brands, digital and industry influencers in the cannabis space to incorporate into media strategies
  • Social media savvy with an understanding of emerging platforms and technology      
  • Forward thinker, who is constantly looking for new ways to promote and enhance client campaigns    
  • Strong team player and also an independent thinker who can take initiative on their own  
  • A diverse roster of previous PR client work, touching on the areas of lifestyle, consumer, corporate communications
  • Proven writing skills as well as excellent verbal and interpersonal skills; good judgment and instincts with problem-solving.
  • Strong knowledge of the PR field including experience in media relations, press campaign development and execution of creative and strategic communication plans.  
  • Existing relationships with media, including both traditional and non-traditional outlets, including niche blogs and influencers
  • Knowledge and passion for current cannabis lifestyle and cultural trends that are relevant to today’s multi-cultural millennial consumer and industry tastemakers and trendsetters 
  • Must understand digital and new media platforms and how to translate knowledge into creating transmedia campaigns for all clients
  • Ability to work under pressure in time sensitive environments on multiple client accounts simultaneously
  • Possible travel, depending on the client's needs
  • Bachelor's degree required 
  • 2-4 years experience at an agency or an in-house PR department with direct client interaction
